Grilled Fruit Skewers with Habanero Caramel Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter 30 mL
  • ½ cup sugar 125 mL
  • ¼ cup 35% whipping cream 60 mL
  • 3 tbsp Sensations by Compliments Spirited Mickie Tequila Lime Habanero BBQ Sauce 45 mL
  • 2 mangos, peeled, cut into large chunks
  • ½ papaya, peeled, cut into large chunks
  • ½ pineapple, peeled, cut into large chunks
  • 8 wooden skewers, soaked

Directions

  • Step 1

    Melt butter and sugar in medium saucepan over medium heat. When sugar is dissolved, increase heat to medium-high. Stir in whipping cream and BBQ sauce. Boil 3 to 5 min. until thickened. Cool slightly.

  • Step 2

    Meanwhile, alternately thread mango, papaya and pineapple cubes onto skewers.

  • Step 3

    Place skewers on grill preheated to medium-high heat. Cook 5 to 7 min., turning occasionally, until fruit is lightly golden and marked. Serve with warm caramel sauce for dipping.

Tip

When in season, make skewers with local strawberries, melons and peaches.
