What does every member of the Sobeys team love? That’s easy: good food. And we know you do, too. Our recipe solutions are here to help you make delicious, nourishing meals that aren’t meant to be perfect—but to simply be enjoyed at home and taste great.
Behind the scenes, our amazing food professionals—recipe developers, testers, writers and editors—are hard at work creating recipes. Whether you’re in the market for a super fast Tuesday-night family dinner or an all-out, crowd-pleasing menu for a special occasion, we have you covered.
As your tastes evolve, so do our recipes. We listen to your feedback and pay attention to what’s popular online so that our recipes are just what you’re looking for. Plus, all of the ingredients we use are easy to find at your local Sobeys. Our goal is to help you discover new foods and different ways of cooking so you never run out of ideas. We incorporate fresh food trends, focus on seasonal ingredients and reinvent popular favourites that you search for year after year. Plus, we share our best tips and hacks to make cooking easier, more affordable and fun.
Our recipe developers measure every drop and taste every crumb to ensure the instructions are easy and the results delicious. Once a recipe has been created, we re-test it as many times as it takes to get it right. Our testers use the same appliances and tools you do—that way, if you follow each recipe step, the cake that rose beautifully in our oven will do the same in yours. Our editors then refine the wording until it’s precise and simple enough for even a new cook to follow. Taste is our number one priority, but nutrition is a close second. With help from our registered dietitians, we make sure portion sizes are realistic and try to keep calories, unsaturated and saturated fats and sodium within Health Canada–recommended levels, while still leaving room for the odd indulgent recipe for special occasions.
We always ensure our recipes meet four key goals: They’re delicious, wholesome, budget-friendly and aimed at cooks of all levels. We want to hear about your experiences when you cook them—send us an email, or a message on Facebook or Twitter, and let us know what you think. We can’t wait to hear from you!
